no, not you. I was chatting about an M149 yesterday with a friend, and remembered this thread about the race car guy..wondered what happened. Figured in a year something was done.

that's my second favorite song of all time...everything else is tied for first though.

I have some tracks somewhere I did with the M149...and when you get the CD, the last track, Pete used one on his kick.

I think it's a nice mic...no doubt. Was kinda hit or miss on my voice, though--lots of high end. Reminded me of Korby's C12 cap. Definitely NOT the "classic Neumann sound". Still...a very nice one.

kel, the purpose of the session at Blackbird was to go into a well-stocked studio, systematically audition gear, and come out with the best vocal chain for the singer. The results were; Korby Red, LaChapell 992 TLS, and a UA 1176.

They've have been recording in their studio.

Did you have a mic question 'er sumthin?

thanks Dan. I remember the gear choices quite well and the backstory regarding the trip. I was intrigued to hear some results from these guys after the big buildup about their competitive style, and to simply hear the chain in action.

We're still learning; not proud of anything yet, but having fun. Interesting thing regarding the vocal chain; the singer is having a hell of a time performing now that he knows that bad takes aren't the fault of the equipment. He can come out of the booth and do a great sing through, back in the booth and can't carry a tuneSmile Blames me for a bad headphone mix.

So, he's learned enough to be dangerous, eh? Cool

Get 'im one of those headphone amp systems where you send him four subgroups, and he can tweak his phones mix himself. Waytogo
