Hi, Dot.
I'm very curious how this mic, and the 40 do on acoustic instruments. Russ Long, according to his review, preferred the 30 to the 40 on acoustic guitar. I'm interested in capturing a detailed image of acoustic guitar, banjo, and fiddle while avoiding string/pick/bow noise. The 30 has a 1 1/8" diaphragm while the 40 has a 1 1/2" diaphragm. I'm thinking here that the larger diaphragm in the 40 might gloss-over a lot of the detail that acoustic instruments need (like SDC vs LDC on instruments). I'm curious what your findings are? Thanks, - Jim |

Has anyone tried these out for overheads yet? I've exchanged emails with Bob Heil and he claims they are great for this application.

I remember reading an article about this mic being used in a civil war movie duct-taped to a cannon. Man, that's some BASS!

The latest edition of Mix mag has a review comparing both the PR 30 & 40 which you may find useful.
